Children help plant next generation of trees at Glenlivet
Pupils at local schools across Moray celebrated National Tree Week by planting trees at Glenlivet Estate. The Week, which in 2008 ran from November 26 to December 7, is the UK’s largest celebration of tree planting, launching the start of the winter tree planting season. More...

Army Cadets build Snail maze
The University of London Officers Training Corp visited Glenlivet in July 2008 to take part in a further Military Aid to the Civil Community (MACC) task. For this task they were set a rather unusual challenge, rather than their normal type of work constructing bridges the cadets were tasked with building a maze in the shape of a snail for the adventure playground in Tomintoul. As expected they rose to the challenge and 10 days later the maze was completed and opened by Pearl Paul, councillor for Speyside and Glenlivet.

Glenlivet keeps Gold award
The Glenlivet Estate Office and Information Centre was re-assessed in early 2008 under the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS), and for the second time has secured  the prestigious gold award. The GTBS is the national sustainable tourism certification scheme for the UK and grading is based on a rigorous set of criteria, covering a range of areas, like energy and water efficiency, waste management and biodiversity. Any tourism businesses can apply and details of the scheme are available at www.green-business.co.uk

Special award for excellence in land management
In May 2008 Glenlivet estate received a special award for excellence from the European Landowners’ Organisation in recognition of their holistic approach to land management. The award recognises the work that The Crown Estate has done in creating a positive rural environment.More...
