Costs and Availability

Primary and Secondary School Groups
During the months of May and June the Ranger Service is available for up to ½ a day to assist with school visits. Teachers are welcome to plan other activities to fill in any remaining time and can use the forest trails, adventure playground, picnic areas and other facilities provided on the Estate.
Charges:

  • £2.00 per pupil.
  • Minimum charge £30.00 per group

Higher Education Group Visits
½ day, full day and field study visits for longer periods can be organised at any time of the year subject to staff availability
Charges:

  • Half Day (1-4 hrs duration): £30/group
  • Day visit (4-8 hrs duration) £60/group

Visits to outside businesses
(e.g. farms/diversified enterprises where farmers etc. are involved are charged at £17+vat per group

Visits to see the Cairngorm Reindeer,
and other local businesses are charged separately, depending on arrangements. Please enquire for further details.

All fees exclude VAT unless otherwise stated.

No charge is made for visits where groups organise their own activities that do not involve Estate staff.

Costs of Accommodation and Food (for residential visits)
Costs vary, but typically involve a fee of around £20pp per night for farmhouse B&B, £4pp for a packed lunch and £8pp for an evening meal. Cheaper group accommodation can also be arranged at the Tomintoul Youth Hostel or the St. Michael's Centre in Tomintoul. Groups planning residential visits should contact the Estate Office for further details.
